Children's Miracle Network:
The Children's Miracle Network is a non-profit organization of 170 hospitals and clinics across North America with the goal of raising awareness, raising funds and creating quality healthcare for sick and disabled children across the country. The Children's Miracle Network is the national platform of the Miss America Organization, during her year of service Miss America becomes a goodwill ambassador for the Children's Miracle Network. Since 1983 the Children's Miracle Network has raised over 4 billion dollars for research, equipment and uncompensated care; these funds are most often raised dollar by dollar. Each contestant at every level of competition is asked to raise funds for this valuable cause.
Cure Pity Pledge:
How can you become part of the cure? The Cure Pity campaign is championed by Gillette Children's Hospital and is focused around the powerful idea that "Children who have disabilities don’t need pity. They need hope, expert medical care and a world that gives them a chance." By taking this pledge you promise not to pity these children but to take action to improve their lives and health. When we reject pity we vow to fight for the rights of the disabled, promote the development of new medical technologies and procedures, encourage accessible buildings, and teach our children acceptance. Take the pledge and cure pity today!
